Leeds fans react on Twitter to Ashley Fletcher transfer speculation

By Emma Sanders

Leeds fans have been discussing speculation linking Ashley Fletcher with a move to Elland Road on Twitter and it has sparked excitement.

The youngster has been linked with a move to the Whites and reliable journalist Alan Nixon claimed the transfer will depend on whether West Ham make some new signings of their own in January. Nixon, who writes in The Sun, gave the update on Twitter.

On Thursday morning Nixon wrote in The Sun that West Ham “have a few things on first” before they can give the green light for Fletcher to leave and Slaven Bilic is hopeful of securing one or two signings.

However, the news yesterday that striker Diafra Sakho had been ruled out of the West Ham team for 6-10 weeks had one fan wondering whether that was the end of the deal. Others are still hopeful they can complete what would be an exciting signing.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

Fletcher has struggled to land regular football with the Hammers and could opt for a move away in January.

The striker was on top form when on loan at Barnsley last season and he played a crucial role in helping the side secure promotion to the Championship.

Fletcher scored nine goals in 26 matches for Barnsley but has netted just once for West Ham despite making 13 appearances.

He has been identified as a target to replace out of form Leeds attacking duo Marcus Antonsson and Souleymane Doukara.

In other Leeds news, this man has made the difference in 2016.
