Leeds fans react on Twitter as Huddersfield secure play-off spot v Wolves

By Danny Wright

Huddersfield sealed their spot in the play-offs with a 1-0 victory at Wolves on Tuesday night and Leeds fans took to Twitter after the game to congratulate their rivals.

Former West Brom prospect Isiah Brown scored the only goal of the game at Molineux which meant that Leeds can no longer finish as Yorkshire’s top club in the Championship.

Garry Monk’s side can still finish in the top six but at the moment it remains out of their hands with just two games to go.

Fulham are Leeds’ nearest rivals but they have been in irresistible form of late and have a vastly superior goal difference.

Sheffield Wednesday are fifth and the Elland Road faithful are still hopeful that a trio of Yorkshire clubs can make the end of season play-off competition.

Here is a selection of tweets from Leeds fans about Huddersfield’s success:

Newcastle and Brighton have already secured their promotion to the top-flight by sealing the Championship’s top two spots.

Leeds have their final home fixture of the season when they welcome eighth-placed Norwich to Elland Road on Saturday before a trip to Wigan on the final day.

The Latics could already be relegated by the time the Whites travel to Lancashire on May 7, leaving them with nothing to play for on the last day.

Monk’s men have won just one of their last six matches going into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

In other Leeds news, Vinnie Jones has delivered his thoughts on the club’s play-off hopes.
