Norwich announced on Tuesday that Kyle Lafferty will be among seven senior players released at the end of the season – and Leeds fans have delivered mixed views on Twitter.
The Northern Ireland striker, 29, was a firm target of the Yorkshire giants last season and they were close to sign him on a few occasions.
Former Leeds manager Steve Evans said, as quoted by the BBC Sport website, he held talks with then-Norwich counterpart Alex Neil about signing Lafferty on a loan deal.
But Leeds could not push through the deal and targetman Lafferty ended up going on loan to Birmingham for the second half of last season.
He has spent this season on the fringes at Norwich and has made just 16 appearances in all competitions, with only two of them coming as a starter.
Many Leeds fans believe the 59-times Northern Ireland international could still play a significant role for the club, while others believe time has moved on.

Lafferty joined Norwich from Palermo in 2014 but has spent the most successful spells in his career at Rangers and Burnley.
Norwich announced on their official website on Tuesday that Lafferty will eave the club when his contract expires on 30 June.
In other Leeds United transfer news, the deal is all but done for the club to complete the transfer of an experienced Premier League man from West Ham.
