Leeds fans react on Twitter to Wood starting from the bench v Aston Villa

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds have named Chris Wood on the bench for the second match in a row, which has left Whites fans on Twitter worried heading into Thursday’s clash against Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old New Zealand international is the club’s top scorer this campaign with 14 goals in 26 appearances.

However, an injury suffered against Reading earlier in the month has meant that he hasn’t started the club’s last three matches.

Wood was limited to a nine minute substitute appearance in the most recent fixture against Preston and many were hoping that he may be able to start against Villa.

But, now that he is starting on the bench again with Souleymane Doukara upfront, a number of fans on social media are worried.

Wood has been pivotal in Leeds’ so far successful campaign, which has seen them currently occupy fifth place.

However, without star defenders Kyle Bartley and Charlie Taylor alongside Wood, it will be a tough ask for Garry Monk’s side to beat a strong Aston Villa team away.

Steve Bruce’s side have won three of their last four games and they will be keen to avenge a 2-0 defeat suffered against Leeds earlier in the month.
