Leeds fans react to Wood scoring Burnley winner against Palace

By Harry Sykes

Chris Wood scored the winner for Burnley in their 1-0 triumph against Crystal Palace on Sunday – and Leeds United fans reacted mostly positively on Twitter.

Clarets record signing Wood, who scored the equaliser at Tottenham after coming on as a substitute two weeks ago, seized on a horrendous back-pass from Lee Chung-yong before shooting past Wayne Hennessey in just the third minute at Turf Moor.

It marked a stunning full debut for the New Zealand international and was the second crucial goal he has scored in two league encounters for Burnley.

Sean Dyche’s side paid Leeds a club record £15million for Wood and that already appears money well spent for the Premier League outfit.

Leeds fans expressed a variety of views, with some claiming the team, which is flying high under Thomas Christiansen, has moved on and others expressing their pride that he has adapted to the top flight so quickly.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Wood ended his two-year spell at Leeds last month after scoring 44 goals in 88 appearances following his arrival from Leicester City in July 2015.

Wood played previously in the Premier League with Leicester and West Brom but never really convinced he was quite up to the required level, scoring just once in the top flight before his Burnley move.

In other Leeds United transfer news, a top-flight striker with an excellent goals record has revealed he wants to permanently move to Elland Road next year.
