Leeds United fans have been left scratching their heads after goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell joined York City on a month-long loan.

United announced on their official website yesterday (Thursday) that Peacock-Farrell, 20, has agreed temporary terms with the non-league side, who play in the Vanarama National League North.

Leeds explained they had sanctioned the deal for the 6ft 4in rising star in order for him to gain valuable first team experience.

Peacock-Farrell has made just one senior Leeds appearance since graduating from their academy, although he has been on the substitute’s bench in the League Cup this season.

However, he remains behind No1 Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan in the keeper pecking order at Elland Road and does not appear to have any imminent chance of first team football.

Peacock-Farrell signed a three-year contract in the summer that runs until 2020.

He now heads out to York until mid-November, a period that is so short some Leeds fans have been left scratching their heads.
