Leeds fans stunned by what Charlie Crew did in behind-closed-doors clash

Leeds United fans have been stunned by Charlie Crew after he scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly clash.

While Leeds’ under-21s side faced Rangers B in a friendly, the first-team also played a game in which Crew featured and found the net.

His involvement with the first team ahead of the youth sides has hinted at further involvement this season, and he has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Archie Gray.

Gray featured 52 times under Daniel Farke last season, becoming a mainstay in the side despite his young age, and Crew has been tipped as the next to make his mark.

Aged just 18, the midfielder is yet to make his first senior appearance, but fans now think his first-team debut is not far away.

Leeds United fans taken aback by Charlie Crew development

Leeds announced that Crew had signed a new four-year deal at Elland Road on 12 July ahead of what is shaping up to be a big season for his development.

Fans took to social media in reaction to his goal, insisting he would be involved with the first team next season under Farke.

Some even said he would be “like a new signing”.

However, some suggested now might not quite be the time for him to make an impact, despite high hopes for his development.

Fans will now be keeping a close eye on the club’s first pre-season clash against Harrogate Town on 19 July in the hope Crew can replicate his performance.

In other news, Leeds have been told to accept offers for Wilfried Gnonto.
