Leeds fans tear into ‘disgusting’ Joel Piroe as full details emerge
Leeds United fans were less than impressed with striker Joel Piroe in their frustrating 1-0 Championship defeat to Blackburn on Saturday (November 30).
Leeds’ three-game winning streak came to an abrupt end at Ewood Park thanks to Todd Cantwell’s 22nd-minute penalty.
Midfielder Ao Tanaka brought winger Tyrhys Dolan down; the former Rangers man expertly converted the spot-kick, beating Illan Meslier at the bottom left corner.
With his side struggling to create any kind of attacking threat, Farke hooked Piroe, 25, off in the 69th minute, replacing him with youngster Mateo Joseph.
Piroe struggled to make an impact, finishing the game without a single shot, completing only 16 passes, and losing all four of his duels.
The Dutchman appears to have established himself as Farke’s preferred option up top, starting in nine of Leeds’ last ten Championship games, scoring four goals across 716 minutes of action.
Defeat to Blackburn sees Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United leapfrog Leeds and claim top spot after their 1-0 win over Sunderland.
Leeds United fans fed up with Joel Piroe
The West Yorkshire club are seriously limited when it comes to striker options, with Piroe, Joseph, and Bamford scoring a combined nine goals in 18 Championship games.
Frustrated by his lack of impact in the defeat to Blackburn, Leeds fans took to X, formally known as Twitter, to voice their feelings.
