'Be harsh' - Leeds fans urge Christiansen to axe big-name signing against Burton

By Harry Sykes

Leeds United fans have urged manager Thomas Christiansen to omit big-name striker signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga from the starting XI for Saturday’s Championship clash against Burton Albion.

Despite the £15million sale of Chris Wood to Burnley, Christiansen has a wealth of forward options after signing four new forwards this summer, including the deadline day arrivals of Lasogga and Pawel Cibicki.

Experienced Bundesliga operator Lasogga, 25, is the most senior of the new striker quartet, which also includes Dutchman Jay-Roy Grot and the injured Caleb Ekuban.

Intriguingly, Kemar Roofe wants to remain as the spearhead of the attack after scoring four goals from that position in Leeds’ last two matches.

Leeds supporters almost universally agree that Roofe, and not on-loan Hamburg striker Lasogga, should lead the line at Elland Road this weekend.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Lasogga has arrived at Leeds after being deemed surplus to requirements at Hamburg even though he has two years left on his £50,000-a-week contract.

The former Germany Under-21 international has slipped down the pecking order at the Bundesliga club but has a fine track record in his homeland.
