Leeds fans urge Monk to axe international ace for clash against Fulham

By Alex Stevens

Leeds fans on Twitter have urged Garry Monk to take the drastic step of axing Pablo Hernandez for Tuesday’s Championship clash against Fulham.

The three-times Spain international struggled on Friday night even though the Yorkshire giants secured a 3-1 league triumph against Birmingham at St Andrews.

The playmaker, 31, has had an impressive debut campaign at Elland Road after joining last summer initially on a loan deal that was converted into a permanent transfer in January.

But many pundits and supporters believe Hernandez is less effective in away matches when Leeds do not have as much possession.

Fans of the promotion hopefuls are now calling on manager Monk to drop the Spaniard down to the bench for Tuesday’s league clash at Fulham and replace him with Kemar Roofe.

Roofe has weighed in with three goals and five assists in 32 Championship matches, but has been used predominantly as a substitute in recent weeks.
