Leeds fans wowed by ‘stunning’ behind-the-scenes development – ‘here we go’

Leeds United fans were unified in their excitement after the club released “proposed images” of an expanded Elland Road.

Daniel Farke‘s side are bound for the Premier League two years on from their relegation in 2023, and 49ers Enterprises are under no illusions at the size of the task they’ll be faced with to make the step up.

Monday’s 4-0 win over Bristol City at Elland Road puts the Championship title well within Leeds’ grasp with one game left to play, and Farke’s attention will then turn towards a crucial summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on 11 April that Farke and the 49ers see six Leeds players as good enough to start in the Premier League, but the Peacocks’ owners also have their eyes on another significant project.

Elland Road plans brought to life at Leeds United

Just over 11 months after plans to expand Elland Road were put on ice in the wake of Leeds’ play-off final defeat, Farke’s side will soon be back at the top and that’s signalled the green light for stadium growth.

On Monday (28 April), Leeds posted a video on X video to display what the new Elland Road will look like upon completion, with the John Charles West Stand and Don Revie (North) Stand both expanded greatly.

Elland Road’s capacity will grow from its current figure of 37,900 to 53,000, and that jump led ex-Everton CEO Keith Wyness to tell Football Insider that he “worries” about the impacts on Leeds’ atmosphere.

However, that sentiment hasn’t been reflected by the current Elland Road faithful, and with a 20,000-strong season ticket waiting list, the significant increase in capacity will be music to many fans’ ears.

Although Wyness has also expressed concerns to Football Insider that a huge increase in corporate facilities at Elland Road could “cause a problem” for hardcore fans, but its visuals have won them over.

Some supporters reflected Wyness’ thoughts and stated that the new-look ground is “a bit posh for us”, while others wished that Leeds will now build a squad on a par with Don Revie’s team to play within it.

Elland Road still “looking like an actual stadium” unlike so many other newly-build grounds was also a huge aspect for fans who don’t want a complete rebuild, and one supporter said they’d miss the “shed-like look” of Leeds’ long-time home.
