Leeds handed path to sign Abdul Fatawu amid Leicester City ‘fire sale’ verdict
Leeds United are expected to look for a new winger this summer as they attempt to take a step forward in the Premier League, and Abdul Fatawu should be the main target.
The Whites are not out of the woods yet when it comes to surviving relegation, with 18th-placed Tottenham just three points behind Daniel Farke’s team.
Leeds do have a buffer of West Ham and Nottingham Forest between them and the drop zone, however, and will play Wolves, Burnley, Tottenham and West Ham in their final seven games.
Fatawu is expected to attract interest from across the Premier League this summer, with Leicester City expected to be relegated to League One.
Leeds transfer chiefs, like other interested parties, will be aware that the Foxes cannot expect to keep hold of the 22-year-old in the third tier.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider this week that Leicester are facing a fire sale this summer amid their expected relegation.
The Foxes were beaten by Swansea City on Saturday and now sit 23rd in the Championship, four points from safety.

It has been a season of pure disappointment at the King Power Stadium, yet Fatawu has remained a shining light throughout.
The winger has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 41 Championship games, and is constantly the man looked to when a moment of brilliance is needed.
In December, Fatawu hit headlines when he netted from 70 yards as the Foxes beat Ipswich Town at the King Power Stadium.
It is that type of brilliance that Leeds have failed to benefit from this season, with Farke’s team facing a serious lack of contribution from the wing.
The Ghana international will reportedly cost around £20million, with Leicester having paid around £15m to sign him from Sporting CP in 2024.
But for a player of his potential, Leeds would be mad not to try their hand at landing the winger this summer.
Premier League competition expected for Fatawu
Fatawu’s exploits in the Championship this season have not gone unnoticed. The winger is attracting significant interest from across the Premier League.
Sunderland and Everton have been linked several times, but they are sure to be joined by the likes of Leeds, Fulham, Brighton and others this summer.
The Whites will not be discouraged, however. Their pursuit of a new winger is well-reported, and will be a certain priority this summer.
Leeds will have to push the boat out and go big if they are to sign Fatawu, but they will know that is exactly what is required to climb the Premier League table.
