Leeds have ‘big transfer concern’ emerging after £100m news – Kieran Maguire
The 49ers Enterprises will support Leeds United with enough cash for summer transfers despite the club making losses of £80million over the past three years.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that reports about Leeds having to raise funds this summer are “overstated”, although he revealed that the club have a “big transfer concern” to deal with.
Leeds will face Southampton on Sunday (26 May) in the Championship play-off final as they look to return to the Premier League.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Leeds must raise as much as £100million in the summer to comply with financial regulations if they fail to achieve promotion.
Football Insider revealed that Crysencio Summerville will leave Leeds United if they fail to achieve promotion this season.
Maguire revealed that Leeds have lost £80million over the past three seasons, but backed the 49ers to overcome their losses and provide funds for transfers.
Leeds United backed for summer transfers despite £80m reveal
“From the losses I’ve seen, I estimated over the last three seasons that Leeds United lost around £80million,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“By the time you make adjustments for academy costs, infrastructure costs, the women’s team and commercial and community schemes that would probably drop to around £30million.
“Therefore, I think the issues around Leeds have perhaps been overstated.
“A bigger concern for Leeds is that they will have significant transfer debts both this season and next because of the amount of players signed on credit.

“Being in the Premier League would give them the extra cash to pay that off on an easier basis.
“Having said that, the 49ers will have a long-term vision to provide the club with enough resources and cash to complete transfers.“
