Leeds United are in the race for in-demand Blackburn Rovers defender Jake Garrett, according to a report.

News outlet ESPN claims that the 15-year-old rising star is being chased by seven teams rom the Premier League and Championship.

It is understood that the Whites are in the pursuit of the centre-back alongside Manchester United, Leicester City, Crystal Palace, Watford, Derby County and Fulham.

The report details that Premier League giants Man United view him as a star for the future after his impressive displays for England’s Under-15 side.

Football Insider verdict:

Garrett is an upcoming talent at Blackburn’s academy, who were promoted from League One as runners-up this season. Leeds are understandably in the hunt for a young talent being tipped for future stardom, but he wouldn’t feature in the Elland Road senior picture for years to come. He is a highly-rated defender that is recognised for being strong in possession and a physical presence too. The Whites should always be looking to strengthen their youth set-up, but bringing in first-team stars has to be top of the club’s priorities. Manager Paul Heckingbottom has to make a handful of changes to his starting XI if they are to realistically be in the mix for promotion next year and that will mean shipping out a few players too. Leeds certainly need some defensive reinforcements after a disappointing 2017/18 campaign at the back, while they also lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
