Leeds line-up: Denton starts as Monk makes eight changes - report

By Alex Stevens

Leeds have made eight changes to their team for Monday’s FA Cup third-round clash against Cambridge, according to a report.

Supporters’ site Leeds United Mad claims to have learned of the starting XI for the televised Monday night tie against the League Two team at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

The site reported the team on its Twitter account to 17,000-plus followers, and it features eight changes to the side that beat Rotherham 3-0 in the Championship on Monday of last week.

Marco Silvestri, Tyler Denton, Liam Cooper, Matt Grimes, Ronaldo Vieira, Kalvin Phillips, Alex Mowatt and Marcus Antonsson are all handed recalls.

According to Leeds Mad, just three players retain their places in the much-changed line-up, defensive duo Kyle Bartley and Gaetano Berardi, and attacking midfielder Kemar Roofe.

Fans will be excited at getting a second glimpse of academy product Denton, the young left-back who scored on a memorable debut for the club in the League Cup last August.

There are are also rare starts for the likes of Antonsson, Silvestri, Mowatt and Grimes, who have all found chances hard to come by in recent months.

Elland Road boss Garry Monk revealed on Friday that he will rest a number of first-team regulars on Monday and give opportunities to the second string.

In other Leeds news, Monk has clinched his second January transfer.
