Leeds make Patrick Bamford transfer decision – sources

Leeds United are expected to retain Patrick Bamford beyond the transfer window cut-off, sources have told Football Insider.

Bamford has a difficult relationship with Leeds fans and was overlooked in favour of Mateo Joseph for Saturday’s goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion, despite Georginio Ruter and Crysencio Summerville’s exits.

There is no obvious buyer for the 30-year-old in the current market, which is one of the reasons why he’s set to stay at Elland Road.

The striker is believed to be a big earner at the west Yorkshire giants, and he has two more years on his contract.

Bamford joined Leeds in 2018 and has been a regular in the team since that point, both in the Premier League and the Championship.

The striker has yet to open his account for this season, having been used as a substitute in the first two league matches.

Leeds United will continue to give Patrick Bamford a chance

Despite how some Leeds fans view him, Bamford has been a crucial player in the squad since joining the club.

Bamford has made 190 appearances in all competitions for the Whites, scoring 60 goals and providing 22 assists.

The striker featured heavily last season as the club narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League as he played 36 games.

Sunderland

Despite Bamford staying at Elland Road for the upcoming season, Leeds are still trying to sign another forward before the transfer window shuts.

Football Insider revealed that the Whites could re-sign Jack Clarke after he rejected a new contract at Sunderland.
