Leeds may have unearthed 'next Raphinha' as £20m transfer plot reported - Whelan
Leeds United may have unearthed another Raphinha in the shape of Club Brugge winger Noa Lang, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Whites need to be clever with their spending ahead of the summer window.
The Telegraph claim Leeds have set their sights on signing £20million-rated Lang after his fine season on loan at Club Brugge.
The 21-year-old joined the Belgian side from Ajax last summer and will see his temporary stay turned permanent at the end of the season.
Leeds spent a reported £17million plus add-ons to sign current wing star Raphinha last summer.
Whelan insisted the Whites needed to continue spending the same sort of fee to continue improving as a squad.

As such, he suggested Lang could be another savvy signing from Victor Orta.
Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “We’re looking in the £20million pound bracket. We can’t start going out firing on £35-40million players.
“We’ve got to be very sensible in what we’re doing. We’re going to need to add at least another four in the same way we did last season. We’ve got to be very, very careful with what we do with the cash.
“With £20million, like we did last year, getting Koch in for that amount of money. Getting Llorente and Raphinha in for that amount too. We need to spend at least another £80million to start competing higher up there in the league as well.
“If he comes into the club, we may have found another Raphinha and sounds like a great start.”
Lang has netted 16 goals and contributed 10 assists across all competitions this season.
The Dutch under-21 international can play anyway in attack, although has featured predominantly on the left wing.
