Leeds must seal summer swoop for 6ft 2 international centre-back, could be available for free
If Victor Orta wants to prove to Leeds United fans that he is the right man to be in charge of the club’s transfers then he must go out and make signing Brentford defender Andreas Bjelland in the summer.
Bjelland, 29, is approaching the end of his contract at Griffin Park and could be available for free unless Dean Smith is able to convince him to agree a new deal.
The 28-times Denmark international has a lot to focus on over the coming weeks and months, firstly as he tries to help Brentford secure a play-off finish in the Championship before taking to Russia for the World Cup.
In the middle of all that, Bjelland’s future is completely up in the air with it nowhere near certain where he will end up next season.
And that is where Leeds must come in and offer the former FC Twente centre-back a chance to clear up his future by reaching an agreement with him to move to Elland Road.

The 6ft 2in defender could be the one man who can turn the Leeds defence into a force that any Championship attack would struggle to break down.
Bjelland and Pontus Jansson could form a solid Scandinavian defensive force and really help the Whites achieve their goal in fighting for promotion to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, fans have been demanding that this 29-year-old leaves the Yorkshire club in the summer.
