Leeds night of the long knives: Journalist claims three more senior men have been axed

Thomas Christiansen has been followed out of the Leeds United exit door by three members of his backroom staff, according to a reliable journalist.
Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay reported on his personal Twitter account on Sunday night that Christiansen’s coaching assistants Julio Banuelos and Paul Butler, along with fitness coach Ivan Torres, have also had their contracts at United terminated.

Leeds announced in a statement on their official website earlier that night that Christiansen had been axed little over 24 hours following Saturday’s 4-1 home defeat to Cardiff City.
There was no mention of his backroom staff other than the club paying tribute to “Thomas and his staff for their hard work over the past eight months”.
Christiansen’s 35-match tenure came to an end as he paid the price for a run of form which was threatening to end United’s bid to reach the Championship play-offs.
Leeds slipped seven points adrift of sixth place in the table after a 4-1 defeat to Cardiff City on Saturday, their sixth league game without a win.
Christiansen had steered Leeds to the top of the Championship table in early September but the team have dropped to 10th in the division after failing to win a single game since Boxing Day and were dumped out of the FA Cup last month by League Two minnows Newport County.
The Yorkshire giants are now looking for their eighth manager in the last four years.
In other Leeds United news, a 48-year-old has been installed as the huge favourite to be the club’s next manager.
