Leeds ‘open to letting Patrick Bamford leave’ after source’s reveal
Leeds United are open to selling Patrick Bamford at the end of the season after the striker’s latest comments surrounding his future at the club.
That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Leeds would consider cashing in on the striker as he is no longer a key player under Daniel Farke.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 14 October that Bamford is planning to leave Elland Road to join a new club next summer.
The 31-year-old recently admitted that he had considered leaving Leeds upon their relegation from the Premier League but experienced a late change of heart.
However, he has now dropped down the pecking order behind Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe and is no longer an important part of Farke’s long-term plans.
As a result, Brown explained that the club could look to cash in on him after six years since he joined from Middlesbrough in 2018.
Bamford’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, but Leeds are now keen to cash in at the end of the season rather than lose him for free.
Leeds United make Patrick Bamford exit decision
Bamford scored eight goals in 33 league appearances last season, and has failed to find the net in four games so far this time out, while he continues to struggle with injury issues.
Brown, who also worked at West Ham, Aston Villa and Sunderland among other top clubs, insisted that the club would look to cash in on Bamford at the end of the season.
“I’ve heard Leeds are open to letting him leave,” he told Football Insider.
“His record in front of goal isn’t particularly impressive and hasn’t been for a while now.
“He’s had countless injury issues as well which have caused them trouble.
“Where Leeds want to go, they want to earn promotion and they want to be a Premier League side.
“He doesn’t fit that mould because he couldn’t cut it last time they were up there other than one season which was an outlier by all means.

“I think his time at Leeds has come to an end. It’s time for Leeds to move him on.
“But he won’t be going upwards. He’ll have to settle for a step down.”
