Leeds player ratings v Aston Villa: 21-year-old is all at sea
By Editor Wayne Veysey
Football Insider rates the Leeds players after their 1-1 draw against Aston Villa in the Championship on Thursday night at Villa Park.
Rob Green 7 – Made a fine early save from a deflected Jonathan Kodjia shot and then a superb one from the same player in the closing minutes.
Luke Ayling 7 – Defended solidly and was a consistent attacking threat. Looked at home in esteemed company.
Pontus Jansson 8 – Outstanding at both ends of the pitch. Kept the dangerous Kodjia at bay and broke the deadlock with a well directed header minutes before slamming the crossbar with a thunderous volley.
Liam Cooper 6 – Authoritative after his late call-up to replace the injured Kyle Bartley but stupidly raised his arm to concede the late penalty converted by Kodjia.

Gaetano Berardi 6 – Looked a square peg in a round hole at left-back but stuck to his task well.
Liam Bridcutt 7 – Diligent, energetic and distributed the ball well. Integral to his team’s second-half dominance.
Kalvin Phillips 4 – The 21-year-old was all at sea. His usually reliable passing was all over the place as he suffered in the big-match spotlight. Will be lucky to keep his place ahead of Ronaldo Vieira and the returning Eunan O’Kane.
Stuart Dallas 6 – Flitted in and out of the game but worked hard and his well-directed corner set up Jansson for the opening goal. Withdrawn after 56 minutes.
Hadi Sacko 6 – Mixed the occasionally very good with the very bad. Frustrated and thrilled in equal measure, and hugely unfortunate to be denied by the crossbar in the closing minutes.
Kemar Roofe 6 – Got in some good positions but could not provide a consistent threat. Withdrawn after 68 minutes.
Souleymane Doukara 6 – Worked manfully as the attack spearhead and held the ball up well. Seemed more comfortable for last 22 minutes in wide role.
Pablo Hernandez (On for Dallas, 56mins) 7
Chris Wood (On for Roofe, 68mins) 6
