Leeds player ratings v Barnsley: Ekuban springs surprise as 26-year-old steals the show

Ezgjan Alioski – 8
Excellent. He was a real nuisance for the Barnsley defenders throughout the game with his sharp movement. Took his goal very well, with a wonderful curling effort into the corner to put Leeds in total control before half-time.
Samuel Saiz – 9
Saiz has been the standout performer for Leeds this season and he showed his quality with another man-of-the-match performance today. The 26-year-old was full of confidence and was at the heart of every Whites attack. He put his side ahead with a brilliant shot into the corner of the net, his ninth goal of the season in all competitions.
Pablo Hernandez – 7
The front four complemented each other very well. Hernandez came close with a free-kick at the start of the second half. A big improvement from his performance against Wolves on Wednesday.
Caleb Ekuban – 8
Very good, both on and off the ball. The 23-year-old proved handful for the Barnsley defenders with his pace and his strength. Missed a great chance to put Leeds 3-0 ahead midway through the second half after being put through by Hernandez, but took too long and hit the side netting.
