Leeds player ratings v Fulham: Midfielder not up to scratch

By Editor Wayne Veysey

Football Insider rates the Leeds players from their 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.

Rob Green 7 – Like a vacuum in the box. Dealt authoritatively with everything that came his way and commanded his area.

Gaetano Berardi 7 – Could not offer the threat going forward of the absent Luke Ayling but was spiky and aggressive.

Kyle Bartley 9 – Magnificent. Again. This man’s standards barely ever slip.

Pontus Jansson 8 – A match made for the combative Swede, who scrapped, tackled, commanded, cajoled and like his life depended upon it. Outstanding.

Charlie Taylor 7 – Was blowing a bit by the end but defended solidly in what was a testing assignment in his first match for nearly three months.

Liam Bridcutt 7 – Rolled up his sleeves and protected the defence with energy, skill and great awareness.

Kalvin Phillips 6 – Preferred to Ronaldo Vieire and Eunan O’Kane and showed why. His energy was key to narrowing the space in which Fulham could operate. Appeared unfortunate to be handed a late red card.

Alfonso Pedraza 6 – Could not quite build upon his debut goal last Friday as he was denied his second for the club by the post late on. Showed his opponent a clean pair of heels on a few occasions as he demonstrated his extreme pace but his use of the ball and decision-making was disappointing.

Hadi Sacko 5 – Helped win the free-kick that led to the opening goal but once again flattered to deceive. Got in some excellent positions but his delivery was hit and miss. Once again, the attacking midfielder was not up to scratch. Heard this one before?

Kemar Roofe 6 – Looked dangerous in the early exchanges but could not build upon an encouraging start and faded.

Souleymane Doukara 5 – Deputised for the injured Chris Wood up front and could not offer the same goal threat as the Championship’s leading scorer. Led the line manfully but lacked the movement of the in-form Kiwi.

Subs:

Modou Barrow (On for Sacko, 61 mins) 6

Stuart Dallas (On for Pedraza, 82 mins) 6

Ronaldo Vieira (On for Roofe, 87 mins) 6
