Leeds ‘doing due diligence’ on Aleksandar Mitrovic deal – ‘He’s perfect’
Leeds United are plotting an ambitious move to sign Al Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 30-year-old would be the “perfect” option for Daniel Farke’s side.
The boss is ramping up efforts to sign a new striker in the closing stages of the window despite having signed Lukas Nmecha as competition for Joel Piroe.
This comes after Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 8 August that Leeds have been given the chance to sign Mitrovic following Darwin Nunez’s move to Al Hilal.

The striker’s Premier League experience and goalscoring prowess are seen as huge assets to Farke’s side as they explore the possibility of bringing him in.
However, Football Insider revealed on 10 August that Leeds may struggle to match Mitrovic’s wages in a potential stumbling block for the deal.
Leeds eye Aleksandar Mitrovic deal as transfer priority revealed
This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.
Football Insider revealed in April that Leeds are prioritising signing a new striker in the summer transfer window amid concerns about their current options.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Mitrovic could be the answer to their problems if they can get a deal over the line.
“I hear Leeds have been looking at Mitrovic,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s somebody who scores goals, he’s proven he can do it in the Premier League, and he’d be worth taking the chance on bringing back from Saudi Arabia.
“Whether he’s the same player he was when he’s left, Leeds will know because they’ve been doing their due diligence on this deal.

“He would give them a focal point which I don’t think Leeds have got at the moment.
“He impacts the opposition defenders, people have to mark him which gives more space for the wide players to create chances for them.
“They can play off him as well, which is an asset to any club if you’re forced to go long to the striker against teams like Man City and Liverpool.
“In that respect, he would be the perfect striker for Leeds and the position they’re in.”
Liverpool open to Ben Doak offer as West Ham join race
Alongside their pursuit of a new striker, Leeds are also aiming to strengthen their squad out wide amid interest in Liverpool talent Ben Doak.
Football Insider revealed on 12 August that Liverpool are planning to accept offers for Doak, with Leeds and West Ham among the clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

Following a successful loan spell at Middlesbrough last time out, there is no shortage of Premier League interest in the winger, with a £20million deal on the cards.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in April that Liverpool are open to offers for Doak and plan to cash in on him after spending big elsewhere.
