‘Leeds set to make Jack Harrison decision as Igor Paixao talks begin’

Leeds United are set to make a final decision over the future of Jack Harrison following recent developments.

Harrison joined the Whites from Manchester City in 2018, initially on loan before later securing a permanent deal.

The winger would go on to register 34 goals and 32 assists in 206 appearances for Leeds across all competitions, playing a key role in their 2019/20 EFL Championship title win and subsequent return to the Premier League.

However, Harrison hasn’t played a game for Leeds since they were relegated in 2023, instead spending the last two seasons on loan at Everton.

Jack Harrison unlikely to play for Leeds again

Although he enjoyed plenty of opportunities at Goodison Park, clocking up over 4,000 minutes in the Premier League alone during his loan, Harrison struggled to make an impact with just five goals and four assists in 73 appearances across all competitions.

Nevertheless, he proved himself a valuable member of the squad thanks to his work rate and attitude.

Harrison has returned to Leeds this summer, but according to Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke, he’s already ‘burned his bridges’ with the Yorkshire club — with a return to Everton more likely than staying at Elland Road.

He did okay at Everton,” said O’Rourke.

“I was quite surprised that Everton didn’t decide to make that deal permanent, because we know they’re desperately in need of wingers.

“Jesper Lindstrom has also left after his loan, and David Moyes is still looking to bring wingers in.

“I’m sure he [Harrison] remains on that list of players they are considering signing at Everton.

“If they don’t get other potential targets for those winger slots in the team, maybe they will rekindle their interest in signing Jack Harrison.

“His bridges have been burnt at Leeds having gone out to Everton twice on loan, Leeds have moved on.

“Harrison will probably have to move on this summer as well, in search of regular first-team football.”

Igor Paixao talks could seal Harrison fate

Any hope of Harrison re-integrating with Leeds may have been dashed following the news that they’ve opened talks with Feyenoord over Igor Paixao.

Paixao can play on either wing and as a No.10 and has enjoyed great success with the Rotterdam giants, registering 39 goals and 29 assists in 129 appearances across all competitions since joining from Cortiba in 2022.

The former Brazil youth international was particularly prolific last season, bagging 18 goals and 19 assists in 45 combined Eredivisie and Champions League outings as Feyenoord finished third in the former and reached the last 16 of the latter.

According to Sky Sports (17 July), Leeds are yet to make an official offer for Paixao, but have opened talks with Feyenoord amid other potential winger options.

Even if Leeds didn’t sign a winger this summer, Harrison would face competition from Wilfried Gnonto, Daniel James and Largie Ramazani for a place in the starting line-up, highlighting the difficulty he could face in getting minutes.

With that in mind, Leeds will likely move to sell Harrison this summer while he still holds the value of three years remaining on his contract.
