Leeds slammed as a ‘disgrace’ after confirmed news – McAvennie

Leeds United have urged fans not to travel to Germany for the upcoming pre-season training camp, but fans are “still going to go.”

That’s the view of former Celtic and Scotland striker Frank McAvennie, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the situation.

The Championship club is set to travel to Germany in July to kickstart pre-season, but due to circumstances beyond Leeds’ control, the games will be played behind closed doors.

The news has caused frustration among supporters, who want to see Daniel Farke’s side this summer to monitor their development ahead of the new campaign.

While the club is discussing possibly streaming the games for fans to view at home, the Whites don’t want fans to make the trip across Europe.

Leeds United fans want to enjoy their holiday

Leeds United supporters typically travel in large numbers to follow the club abroad in pre-season, but the removal of that option is certainly causing some controversy.

“I think it’s a disgrace,” McAvennie told Football Insider.

“I know a lot of people don’t like the English going because they cause bother, but I think Leeds fans, unless provoked, they’re pretty decent.

“You can’t help them because they’re still going to go; supporters who love their club will go because it’s their jolly.

“It’s a few days away from the Mrs on the lash with the boys; there’s no way that the supporters aren’t going to go, so I don’t understand why they’re even asking.

“Tell them there’s no way they can get into the game, but enjoy yourself but don’t cause any bother and give the club a bad name, that’s what I would say.

“Just ask them to behave themselves; you’re not going to stop them from travelling.”
