Kemar Roofe gives verdict on second round League Cup reunion

By Harvey Byrne

Kemar Roofe is looking forward to Leeds’ second round League Cup match against Luton.

The Yorkshire giants will face the League Two side after beating Fleetwood 5-4 on penalties on Wednesday evening and the Hatters feature two of Roofe’s former teammates.

Luton duo Danny Hylton and Johnny Mullins both starred alongside Roofe at Oxford and the recent £3million signing is looking forward to playing against the pair.

“What a game! Buzzing to be playing @dhyl3 & @mulls1985 in the next round. @OUFCOfficial at it again,” posted Roofe on his personal Twitter page.

Luton overcame Leeds’ Championship rivals Aston Villa in a shock 3-1 victory on Wednesday evening and the Yorkshire giants will be keen to ensure that they don’t suffer a similar fate.

Roofe, 23, joined the Whites this summer as new boss Garry Monk looks to make the Elland Road side his own.

The young attacker attracted many admirers after being named the League Two Player of the Year last season, following a successful campaign where he bagged 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 49 appearances as he helped Oxford win promotion to League One.

Leeds will be looking to return to the top-flight for the first time since suffering relegation in 2004 and the club have strengthened their side with eight new signings this summer.

In other Leeds team news, the Whites are set to announce two new additions to their side this week.
