Chris Wood delivers brilliant response to £15m Leeds price tag
By Amir Mir
Chris Wood has stated that he has not desire to quit Leeds and if the club’s owner thinks he is worth £15million then he regards it as “happy days”.
The 25-year-old has been in blistering form this season helping his team produce promotion form under the highly-rated Garry Monk.
Monk’s side are currently fifth in the Championship table as they are edging closer to securing a top six finish.
That would see them enter the playoffs where they would have the chance of securing top-flight football for the first time in 13 years.
Wood is a key man in Leeds’ bid to end their spell in the doldrums and he issued a brilliant response that will go down well with supporters to rumours of top-flight clubs circling and willing to pay a massive £15million fee for his services.
“Why would I leave here when we could be in the Premier League come May? It’s a no-brainer,” Wood told the Daily Mail.
“This is where I’m doing so well, it’s perfect. And if the owner says I’m worth £15m…happy days!”
Wood has played 33 EFL Cup and Championship games this season, scoring 21 goals for Monk’s side.
Additionally, the New Zealand international has netted on 18 occasions in the league as he is close to breaking the 20 goal barrier with 16 games remaining in the season.
Wood has scored against the likes of Norwich, Aston Villa, Reading and Derby this term, including finding the back of the net during the club’s last league fixture.
He will now turn his attention to Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side at the weekend when the Welsh club visits Elland Road for a Championship clash.
