Leeds United need to sign three top players in the summer if they are to build on the progress they’ve made this season, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender suggested they should add a new left-back, central midfielder and striker to add competition for Patrick Bamford.
Football Insider reported earlier this week the Yorkshire giants have £32million in the bank despite posting a huge loss in their recently published accounts.
Leeds are exceeding expectations in their first season back in the top-flight with their stunning 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday leaving them in 10th.
“You look at next season and how you can build on this season and it’s just about adding that little bit of quality and a little bit more strength in depth,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Let’s go through the certain starters. Illan Meslier starts. The centre-halves are OK Diego Llorente, Liam Cooper and Robin Koch. Luke Ayling is fantastic at right-back – absolutely superb. Alioski is going to go so there’s a hole at left-back, they’re going to have to bring in a left-back. Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford start if they’re fit.
“You look at that midfield area. Do they need to bring in a centre forward as well? To push Patrick Bamford and to keep those standards high to be competition.
“We’re talking about building on this season. How do we make next season better?
“Left-back is a given and maybe adding a little bit more. Another midfield player and a centre-forward.”
