Leeds tipped to sign 'wonderful youngster' after Woodman offer - Campbell
Kevin Campbell has backed Leeds United to sign a “wonderful youngster” to replace Kiko Casilla.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested Marcelo Bielsa would refrain from signing an experienced shot-stopper to avoid putting unneeded pressure on current number one Illan Meslier, 21.
Leeds United confirmed on July 12th that Casilla had joined La Liga side Elche on a season-long loan deal.
The ex-Real Madrid man’s exit leaves the Whites with just Meslier and 19-year-old Elia Caprile in the goalkeeping department.
As revealed by Football Insider (14th July), Leeds offered Newcastle United shot-stopper Freddie Woodman a loan with a view to a permanent move.
However, the Englishman rejected their approach.

Robinson suggested Bielsa and Victor Orta will now turn the attention to another young goalkeeper.
“I’m going to be honest with you, I think they are going to go for another young goalkeeper rather than an experienced one,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Bielsa, he goes against the grain that guy. He puts a lot of trust in youngsters and it is the right thing to do. He throws them in the deep end to see if they can swim or not and it has worked out for him time and time again at Leeds.
“An experienced goalkeeper would only put pressure on Illan Meslier, pressure that he doesn’t need after the season he had last. He was absolutely outstanding for someone of his age.
“Go ahead Bielsa, do you thing! Do your thing! Keep signing these wonderful youngsters and give them a chance.”
