Leeds to miss out on bumper transfer fee after what Max Wober did – fans react

Leeds United fans think the club could be set to miss out on a £15million transfer fee after Max Wober’s performance for Austria v France.

Wober, 26, spent last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and has been widely tipped to leave Elland Road for good this summer.

Football Insider revealed in March that Leeds would accept offers for the defender when the transfer window opens.

However, fans say a performance at Euro 2024 in which he scored an own goal, picked up a yellow card, and was hooked off after 59 minutes, may come as a blow to his price tag.

Austria fell to a 1-0 defeat against France, with Wober’s own goal the difference.

Wober joined Leeds for £11million in January 2023 and featured just 19 times for the club before jumping ship after their relegation from the Premier League.

With his return to Elland Road expected following the Euros, the club will look to bring in a fee for his permanent exit.

Fans had suggested a sale worth up to £15million could be on the cards this summer, but after his performance for Austria, that price may have dropped.

Other supporters raised concerns about the possibility of Wober remaining at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.

Many fans, meanwhile, have held on to their anger at the Austrian after his swift departure.
