Leeds told ‘add-ons’ to boost Crysencio Summerville sale price – expert
Leeds United have been told to include performance-related add-ons in the imminent sale of star player Crysencio Summerville.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who is very well connected at his former club, revealed future clauses in any deal for the Dutchman will ensure the Yorkshire side reap the benefits of the transfer for years to come.
Football Insider revealed on 18 June Leeds want to receive £35million plus add-ones for Summerville after he was named the Championship’s Player of the Year last season.
Brighton have enquired about signing the 22-year-old as they look to bring in a wide attacker this summer.
Football Insider revealed on 31 May it is now “impossible” for Daniel Farke’s side to keep hold of Summerville after failing to gain promotion back to the Premier League last season.
Crysencio Summerville could leave Leeds United on cheap deal
Robinson insisted the winger is only likely to get better in the future, making it important individual and team achievement add-ons are included in any potential sale.
“I think £35million is cheap for him,” he told Football Insider.
“He was the Championship Player of the Season and is a quality player. £35million is a Championship price.
“He will want to play in the Premier League if there are offers there for him to do that. When you look at the numbers that’s put on other players, £35million for him is a snip.
“From a Leeds point of view, if they are to do a deal in that region, putting some huge add-ons in there is key. It’s almost the done thing now.
“With a player like Summerville and the age he’s at, he’s going to get better and achieve more.
“If he is going to leave Leeds, the add-ons you put in there should be on individual achievements and the team achievements wherever he goes.
“If trophies are won as a team, if things are reached at the international level from his personal achievements, it’s very important if he is sold that the deal is structured in a way that benefits Leeds for many years to come.”
