Leeds told to pull the plug on Patrick Bamford transfer
Leeds United have been urged to pull the plug on any potential plans to sell Patrick Bamford in the January transfer window.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that there’s “nobody better” in the Championship when the 31-year-old is firing.
Leeds United have been urged to not sell Patrick Bamford
“He’s probably getting frustrated at the lack of playing time because he can’t stay fit,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“That’s probably half the reason, he needs to stay fit and he needs to able to put a run of games together.
“The thing for Patrick is just playing, he’s not getting the opportunities because he’s not been able to string a run of games together.
“He’s proven that he can do it at the championship level, I don’t think there’s any reason whatsoever that you move him on in January.
“You look at the goals he’s scored in the Championship, you look at the season they went up, you look at the impact that he has.
“If he’s fit and he’s ready to play then from the manager’s point of view, if there’s no real pressure to sell him, you wouldn’t sell him.
“If he’s going to be fit for the next six to eight months to the end of the season there’s nobody better in that league if you get him firing.
“I don’t see him moving on and I don’t see the manager being in any particular rush to move him on, because if you do move him on what type of money are you going to get for him?

“Then who are you going to buy to replace him?
“The FFP and the PSR, that’s going to come into play, that’s just not a deal that’s going to happen in January.”
