Leeds told to sign striker 'like Haaland' as £25m set aside for bid - Phillips
Kevin Phillips claims Leeds United must sign an Erling Haaland-like striker this summer.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was reacting to the latest on Leeds’ summer plans.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club are drawing up a shortlist of forwards who can slot straight into the first team next season.
It is understood Leeds are looking for a versatile forward in the 18-23 age bracket who can play out wide and down the middle.
Leeds are also looking to pay no more than £25million for their new forward.
One of the club’s targets, as revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday (12th May) is Slavia Prague sensation Abdallah Sima.

Phillips claims Leeds should target a striker similar to Dortmund sensation Haaland and warned a more versatile forward will be costly.
“If you’re going to do that you will be paying a right few quid,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“It’s always handy to have someone who can play in both positions. Look at Marcus Rashford, he can play wide and through the middle.
“I might be old fashioned but if you’re going to buy a striker, buy a striker.
“Like Erling Haaland, someone who is just an out and out striker. Leave those wider areas to your Raphinha’s.
“It’s a bonus if you can find someone who can play in both positions. Generally, strikers don’t like playing wide.
“Leeds can’t rely on [Patrick] Bamford again next season so it’s an area they need to look at.”
Leeds hammered Burnley 4-0 on Saturday but Bamford was unable to get on the scoresheet.
The Whites are next in action against Southampton on Tuesday.
