Leeds United 26-year-old named in EFL team of the week

By Aramide Oladipo

Leeds United forward Samu Saiz has been named in the English Football League team of the week following his excellent performance against Bristol City on the weekend.

The 26-year-old summer signing scored twice as Thomas Christiansen’s side secured a comfortable 3-0 win at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon.

Fellow new recruit Pierre-Michelle Lasogga also found himself on the scoresheet as the Whites picked up their first win in four Championship matches.

The result means that the Yorkshire club remain in the top six and they are currently just four points behind Cardiff City who occupy the final automatic promotion spot.

The attacker was the only Leeds player selected in the EFL team of the week which was revealed on their official website on Monday afternoon.

Saiz secured a permanent move to Elland during the summer transfer window on a four-year contract from Spanish outfit SD Huesca.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a wonderful start to his career in England, contributing with eight goals and two assists in all competitions.

Saiz is right on track to beat his numbers last season where he notched up a total of 12 goals.

The forward could potentially feature in the Carabao Cup clash against Premier League side Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday evening.

In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has brandished this Whites player as being overweight.
