Sources: Major update on Leeds United signing Brenden Aaronson after new talks held
Leeds United are in pole position to sign RB Salzburg star Brenden Aaronson and talk are underway over a potential summer deal, Football Insider understands.
The Yorkshire giants came close to landing the USA international, 21, in January but could not agree a fee with the Austrian club.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Leeds are still very keen to land Aaronson and he is their number one priority going into the summer.

United have held initial talks over a deal and have been encouraged by the player’s desire to join them.
It is expected that the eventual fee will be around the £21-25million mark.
Significantly, Aaronson has no release clause in his contract with Salzburg, which has made negotiations tricker.
Leeds are confident of securing their Premier League status following two vital recent wins and that is key to getting a deal over the line.
Aaronson has continued to perform well for Salzburg since Leeds tried to sign him in January.
He impressed in his side’s Champions League last-16 double header against Bayern Munich in March, supplying assists in each tie – the first was drawn 1-1 and the second resulted in a 7-1 thrashing.

An attacking midfielder who plays behind the centre-forward for his club, Aaronson has scored five goals and provided 10 assists from 35 matches in all competitions this season.
He has played 60 times in total for Salzburg, which have yielded 12 goals and 15 assists in the last two seasons.
In other news, Leeds United have “very impressive” Phillips successor lined up.
