Leeds United are working on signing top striker – expert
Leeds United must prioritise an out-and-out centre-forward this summer with several of the club’s attackers having faded, according to Paul Robinson.
The ex-Leeds goalkeeper, who remains very well connected at his former club, speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, declared that Daniel Farke and his staff must identify and recruit a number nine.
Sargent, who has operated across the entire ‘front three’ for the Canaries, is currently away with the USA at the Copa America, but talks could commence when the 24-year-old returns.
Robinson believes £36m man Rutter “flattered to deceive” at Elland Road last term, whilst Joel Piroe “started well but faded”.
Leeds United must sign a clinical striker – Robinson
Robinson believes Leeds United must secure a natural centre-forward this summer in order to guarantee goals and hopeful promotion next campaign.
“I think the feeling from within the club is that a number nine is needed,” the ex-Whites stopper said.
“I’ve not heard whether Leeds are interested in Sargent or not, but the links are there with the manager.
“I think a lot of incomings will depend on outgoings and what they’ve got to spend.
“Patrick Bamford was injured yet again and was only a sporadic part of last season.
“The feeling at Leeds was that Piroe started well but faded away, Rutter flattered to deceive despite getting the goals, but the goals came from all over the team last season.

“Number nine is a position the club will look at this summer, from what I’m told. Whether that’s Sargent or someone else, I’m not sure.
“The lack of reliability on Bamford’s fitness and the form of Piroe and Rutter means I think they’ll be in for a striker.”
