Leeds United do not expect Eddie Nketiah to be fit to play in the next three Championship matches, Football Insider can reveal.

Marcelo Bielsa revealed at his media briefing on Thursday the striker, 20, is out of today’s trip to Luton Town with the injury that sidelined him before the international break but set to return to full training next week.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club are not pinning any hopes on Nketiah returning to face Reading next Tuesday and then Middlesbrough on Saturday week.

The best the Arsenal can hope for is an appearance on the bench, most likely against Boro in a week’s time.

As revealed by Football Insider a fortnight ago, Nketiah suffered not only what the club termed an abdominal injury but also an injury to a more delicate area of his anatomy.

He is now fully recovered but needs extensive fitness work on the training ground to be able to return to the first team.

This means Patrick Bamford is set to spearhead the Leeds attack from the start of the next three matches.

The £7million signing from Middlesbrough tops United’s Championship scoring charts with five goals this season.

But his penalty in the 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers before the international break came only after a 10-match goal drought in which he had borne the brunt of extensive criticism from supporters.

Nkeitah has yet to start a league match for his loan club but has accumulated 430 minutes across all competitions.

This includes 10 substitute appearances in the Championship, which have yielded three goals, and two starts in the League Cup that have brought two more goals.

In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed the terms of a multi-million deal.
