Leeds United braced for Archie Gray bidding war after Liverpool swoop – Sources
Leeds United will be deluged with bids for Archie Gray this summer if they fail to earn promotion, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Whites will have to “rebuff a lot of bids” for the 17-year-old.
Gray was eyed by multiple Premier League clubs in the January transfer window, with Football Insider revealing (24 November) that Liverpool, Everton and Crystal Palace were all interested in a move.
However, mass interest in the teenager is expected to be revived at the end of the season should Daniel Farke’s side fail to regain Premier League status. It is believed that Liverpool are among those who remain very keen.
The 2006-born star penned a bumper new deal at Elland Road in mid-January set to last until 2028, with his previous contract set to expire in 2025.
Leeds United expecting to be deluged with Archie Gray bids
Leeds had no interest in selling Gray in the January window after he emerged as one of England’s hottest prospects this season and became pivotal to the club’s success.
He made his senior debut for his boyhood club in the first Championship game of the season and has gone on to start 28 games in the league.
Gray, who has played at right-back, defensive midfield, central midfield and attacking midfield this season, is seen as crucial in Leeds’ efforts to get promoted.
The Whites are strong contenders to go straight back up this season having won their last seven league games and moving into the automatic spots.

Leeds are second in the Championship table following their 4-0 win against Swansea City on Tuesday (13 February), but third-place Southampton have a game in hand.
They are next set to play Plymouth Argyle away on Saturday afternoon (17 February).
