Leeds win over Spurs proves savage Kinnear comments spot-on – Kenny

Tottenham’s defeat at the hands of Leeds United on Saturday proves Angus Kinnear was spot-on about the European Super League.

That is according to ex-Whites shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Leeds’ 3-1 victory at Elland Road moved them into the top half.

In April, the Leeds United CEO claimed that ambitious sides like Leeds, West Ham and Everton had “overwhelmed the self-proclaimed ‘big six.”

He argues that ultimately led them to form their own breakaway competition.

Leeds’ victory at the weekend means that Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have failed to win at Elland Road in 2020-21

Kenny insists that record validates Kinnear’s statement about the Super League and is a brilliant omen ahead of next season.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “They’ve definitely proved him right. We all know that.

“What do we even classify as the ‘big six’? If you class Tottenham as ‘big six’ then I don’t know what the meaning is, other than money.

“If Leeds can achieve what they have achieved this season in the next season, it’s a massive plus. You can’t look too far ahead.

“We’ve seen what Sheffield United have done last season and this season they’ve absolutely buckled.

“You’ve got to look at something similar and the push on maybe the next year. The Premier League is so tough.

“But this record against these teams is a good one. You’ve got to show that you’re a strong Premier League side and then go from there.”

Leeds are currently 9th in the Premier League with three matches remaining.

They face Burnley, Southampton and West Brom in their final fixtures.
