Leeds United could be forced into Max Wober U-turn after latest development – sources
Leeds United could be forced to loan defender Max Wober out once again this summer if they fail to gain promotion, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old has spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Daniel Farke’s side are locked in a battle for promotion with Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton ahead of their final three games of the season.
The latest development in the race saw them lose 1-0 at home against Blackburn on Saturday (13 April).
And should they miss out, Leeds will be desperate to sell Wober and their other loaned-out stars permanently – but could be forced into a U-turn with another temporary deal believed to be more likely.
That will provide a major dent to finances which will already be stretched without the riches of Premier League football.
Leeds could be forced to loan Wober again after blow in promotion race
Last week (9 April), Leeds announced a loss of £34million in their 2022-23 accounts – and revealed they still owe £190million in transfer fees to other clubs.
There was no mention of an option to buy when Wober officially joined Gladbach last summer (2023) and he is set to return to Elland Road this summer.
Football Insider has already revealed (14 March) that the Austria international is unlikely to be part of Farke’s squad going forward – even if Leeds are promoted.

The 26-year-old made just 19 appearances for Leeds before leaving the club temporarily last summer (2023).
He has turned out 26 times in all competitions for Gladbach this term and is a regular starter in the Bundesliga.
In other news, Leeds will be forced to sell star players after “devastating” financial update.
