Leeds United could be forced to agree new Jack Harrison deal this summer – sources

Leeds United could be forced to sanction another loan for Jack Harrison if they aren’t promoted this season, sources have told Football Insider.

Harrison, 27, is currently at Everton on a temporary deal running until the end of this season.

Meanwhile, the winger’s parent club are locked in a battle for promotion with Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton – and suffered a blow by losing 1-0 at home against Blackburn last time out.

If Leeds fail to return to the Premier League this term, it is believed their on-loan contingent will have a huge impact on their finances.

Harrison joined the likes of Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca in leaving Elland Road on loan following the club’s relegation from the top flight.

Sources say Leeds will be desperate to sell those players if they aren’t promoted – but more loan exits are a more likely outcome.

Club chiefs see promotion as vital after the Whites revealed a loss of £33million in their latest financial accounts – which also showed that £190million in transfer fees is owed to other clubs.

There is reportedly no option to buy in Harrison’s loan at Everton – meaning the cash-strapped side will have to re-enter negotiations with Leeds if they want to keep him at Goodison Park.

Sources say that Harrison is not keen on re-joining Leeds and would like to sign permanently for Everton if they stay up.

He has started 27 times in 31 appearances across all competitions for the Merseysiders this term, notching four goals and three assists.

Harrison is under contract at Elland Road until June 2028.
