Leeds United could sign ‘perfect’ Jack Harrison replacement on pre-contract after source’s reveal – pundit

Kevin Campbell has urged Leeds United to reignite their bid to sign Rangers winger Ryan Kent in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 25-year-old would be the “ideal replacement” for Jack Harrison at Elland Road.

Kent has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Ibrox.

Sources have told Football Insider (1 October) that the ex-Liverpool attacker has rejected the offer of a lucrative new contract from the Gers.

The winger is understood to have set his sights on a move to the Premier League.

Leeds failed with a bid to sign Kent in August 2020 under Marcelo Bielsa.

When asked by Football Insider if the Yorkshire club should reignite their interest in Kent next year, Campbell said: “Kent would be perfect.

“He would be the ideal replacement for Jack Harrison should he leave.

“Kent’s contract is running down so there is a bargain to be had there. You do that deal if you’re Leeds.

“They could sign him even if Jack Harrison stays and signs a new deal. Kent is a good player and you would be getting him cheap. He is affordable.

“I think that would be a good move for all parties. Leeds could sign a pre-contract agreement with him in January.”

Newcastle United were interest in signing Harrison in the summer transfer window.

The winger has two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Victor Orta could now be placed on ‘gardening leave’ amid Leeds latest.
