Leeds United employee backs Luis Sinisterra after ‘incredible’ team news reveal
Noel Whelan has suggested Luis Sinisterra’s Leeds United switch has allowed him to “bring out the best in his game” after his three-goal Colombia haul.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 23-year-old will be in “confident form” after his international exploits.
Sinisterra scored three goals in two games for Colombia over the international break – his first strikes for his country.
His seven-minute brace against Mexico helped Colombia overturn a 2-0 half-time deficit to win 3-2 in San Francisco.
Speaking in his press conference before Sunday’s (2 October) clash with Aston Villa and quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post (30 September), manager Jesse Marsch hailed the “incredible” winger’s hard work and humility.
He also revealed Sinisterra will take part against Villa despite “big travel” between the US and England this week.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “When you’re playing in the toughest and best league in the world, it brings out the best in your game.
“You’ve got to be on your A game. There’s no respite when it comes to 90 minutes in the Premier League.
“He’s taken the confidence from the goals he’s already scored in a Leeds United shirt into international duty – and he’s coming back in really confident form.
“That’s exactly what we need from him ahead of a tough game against Aston Villa.”

Sinisterra has already scored three goals for Leeds United since joining in July.
The former Feyenoord star cost a reported £21.4million and signed a five-year deal at Elland Road.
In other news, Kieran Maguire claims Leeds United fans will be livid with club chiefs as contract details emerge.
