Leeds United employee excited by Adam Forshaw after ‘seeing him last night’

Noel Whelan has suggested Adam Forshaw is “in a really good place” after his recent injury layoff at Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker and club ambassador revealed the 30-year-old looked”fine, fit and strong” after seeing him while running a coaching session on Thursday night (14 April).

As quoted by the Athletic’s Phil Hay (9 April), Jesse Marsch revealed Forshaw missed the win over Watford with a calf strain but that he was set to return to training this week.

The midfielder has been a mainstay under the American manager.

Whelan insisted Thursday night’s sighting bodes well for Forshaw making a swift return.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I saw him last night at coaching, taking his son there, with a big smile on his face.

“He looks fine, he looks fit, he looks strong and he’s in a really good place too. They’re enjoying the fact that they’re on a really good run and embracing the challenge that’s in front of them.

“You’ve got to give credit to Adam Forshaw. He’s a man in form right now and he’s doing a really good job in that midfield area. Everybody was expecting him to take a bit of time to come back into it.

“But considering he’s been out for two years, pretty much, he’s been one of the most important players on the field for us at times. The way he controls the game, the way he gets in and around, that tenacity that he brings.

“He’s got the quality on the ball, knowing when to calm it down with that experience that he’s got. He’s been a welcome player while Kalvin’s been out.”

Leeds’ next game is on 25 April when they visit Crystal Palace.
