Leeds United employee issues emphatic Crysensio Summerville claim after what he’s spotted
Noel Whelan has claimed Crysensio Summerville has already done enough to make the left-winger spot at Leeds United his own.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted older and more established stars Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra must now “fight” for inclusion during friendlies against Real Sociedad and Monaco this month.
Leeds United return to action against Man City on 26 December – more than six weeks after their 4-3 loss against Tottenham on 12 November.
Summerville, 21, scored in that match – as well as the three Premier League games prior – after making his first top-flight start against Leicester in late October.
The Netherlands Under-21 international, who penned a new contract at Elland Road during the off-season, is the Whites’ second-top scorer despite playing just 468 league minutes.
Fellow wingers Sinisterra and Harrison both started the season well but saw their form tail off before the mid-season World Cup break.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “We’ve got some friendlies coming up before this City game, and it’ll be good to have the three players back that featured in the World Cup.
“They should be all ok to play after going out early.
“But in terms of the biggest dilemma for Jesse Marsch, it’s the wide attacking areas. You’ve got to look at the form before the break.
“Summerville scored four on the bounce, so he’ll be in a good place. Rodrigo is the top scorer, he scored in the last game.

“But the other side, that’s up for grabs. Harrison and Sinisterra have got to fight in these friendlies to be included.
“Summerville has done enough to keep his place.”
