Leeds United employee makes 'massive' claim after Rasmus Kristensen reveal

Noel Whelan has tipped Rasmus Kristensen to hit the ground running in pre-season at Leeds United after reuniting with Jesse Marsch.

The former Leeds striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the pre-existing relationship between the 24-year-old and the manager will be “massive”.

Speaking to LUTV last week (8 June), Kristensen revealed he had a “brilliant relationship” with Marsch during their time at RB Salzburg.

He went on to say he feels as though he fits “right into the philosophy and system” employed by the American coach.

Whelan insisted Kristensen has “peace of mind” having completed his move early doors this summer.

He suggested the trust between player and manager will see Kristensen make a flying start to life at Elland Road.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think he’s massive about that relationship, that player-manager relationship. Knowing what to expect from either side, the manager from the player and the player from the manager.

“I think it makes the transition so much easier when you’ve got that trust. The manager has brought you in for those reasons. Your football ability, your characteristics and everything that he is going to bring to the party at Leeds United.

“I think it makes the settling in period so much easier. The fact that he has made this transfer very, very early gives peace of mind to the player going into pre-season.

“We know one of the most important times of a footballer’s season is getting a good pre-season under your belt.”

Kristensen played 64 times under Marsch at Salzburg.

He scored 10 goals and contributed eight assists in 45 appearances during the 2021/22 season.
