Leeds United face mass summer exodus – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leeds United will be “concerned” about losing their best players if they fail to win the play-offs.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested Daniel Farke knows what it takes to secure promotion and will rebuild the side accordingly if they can’t win at Wembley.

Leeds face a two-legged semi-final against Norwich this month, starting with the away leg at Carrow Road on Sunday (12 May).

If victorious, the Whites will play one of Southampton or West Brom at Wembley on 26 May.

Farke’s side finished third in the regular season after a late collapse, picking up just one win from their last six games.

Farke tipped to ace Leeds rebuild if they don’t win playoffs

Football Insider revealed on 24 April that Aston Villa are keen on signing Championship Player of the Year Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think they would be concerned about losing their best players if they don’t go up.

“There will have to be a bit of a re-jig, that’s clear.

“However, Farke can handle the Championship. He knows the type of player he needs and wants.

“Experience is key in the Championship, and he knows that.

“I would expect a Championship-ready squad for Leeds next season if they don’t go up – even though I expect them to win the playoffs.”
