Leeds United fans are amazed by how much Junior Firpo has improved following his “superb” performance against Middlesbrough on Monday night (22 April).
Daniel Farke’s promotion-chasing Whites secured a crucial 4-3 win at the Riverside Stadium thanks to a brace from Crysencio Summerville and goals from Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto.
However, Firpo was a huge part of the needed victory – which has taken much of the Elland Road faithful by surprise.
His defensive ability has been slaughtered for much of the season, but against Boro, he managed four clearances, three tackles, one interception and won 100 per cent of his attempted aerial duels.

But his attacking quality was on full display against Michael Carrick’s side as he managed two key passes, 100 per cent cross accuracy, created one big chance and notched two assists.
Firpo’s assist for Bamford’s goal was perfectly weighted and delivered from the left wing and helped the Whites take the lead in the 18th minute after going 1-0 down in the seventh.
The full-back has struggled to endear himself to Leeds fans since his reported £12.8million move from Barcelona in 2021 and was frequently dragged for his displays last season in the Premier League.
However, the tide is turning on fans’ perceptions of Firpo and many now admit that he has been a pivotal part of their promotion race this term.
Supporters have taken to social media in light of his most recent display, and many are very impressed with how he has been able to turn his reputation around at Elland Road.
