Leeds United fans ‘speechless’ as ‘unbelievable’ handball footage emerges – ‘Corrupt’
Leeds United fans were absolutely fuming after they were not awarded a penalty for a handball in their clash against Sunderland on Tuesday night (9 April).
The Whites took a huge dent in their automatic promotion hopes after they only managed a 0-0 draw at Elland Road against the Black Cats.
Neither side had a real chance to clinch all three points, but Leeds supporters have voiced their outrage that they were not given a spot kick in the 76th minute after Sunderland defender Luke O’Nien handled the ball in the box.
Sky Sports footage showed the moment when Crycensio Summerville launched a corner into the box which met the uplifted hand of O’Nien, who was attempting to win the ball from the looming Joe Rodon.
Leeds fans blame corruption for “unbelievable” handball decision
Whites players immediately protested the decision, but referee Tim Robinson seemingly did not see the infringement that would have otherwise resulted in a penalty for Daniel Farke’s side.
While few Leeds fans would claim that their side deserved anything more than a point from their showdown against Mike Dodds’ side, they were still angered by the incident.
They have taken to social media to react to the “disgrace”, and some are convinced it proves that the EFL is “corrupt”.
